EXAMPLE PROJECTS – 2009 Vegetation Management Plan – SEPP 14 Wetland Fraser Drive Tweed Heads NSW
The project is located within the Urban Land Release areas of the Far North Coast Strategy and is zoned 2(c) Urban Expansion within the Tweed Shire Council Local Environmental Plan 2000. The site is subject to State Environmental Planning Policy (SEPP) 14 Wetlands and is also located within the NSW Coastal Zone, thereby triggering assessment against the provisions of SEPP 71 Coastal Protection.The Vegetation Management Plan was produced to comply with the NSW Department and Planning and the Tweed Shire Council as conditioned in Major project approval MP 06-0243. Aquatic Weed Management Strategic Plan – 3600ha Burnett Mary Catchment QLD
This four month project required a detailed review of previous management strategies, consultation with stakeholders and field surveys to determine gaps and develop the strategic plan for the control of aquatic weeds in the Burnett and Kolan catchments. The project involved combining management directions from five (5) regional councils, the Department of Primary Industries – Biosecurity and the Environmental Protection Agency.The project involved mapping, presentations, producing strategic priority and action plans, and formulating simultaneous equations to determine equitable funding contributions from a range of variables and investors. Ecological Site Assessment & Threatened Species Impact Assessment – Murmillumbah NSW
This projected required flora and fauna surveys, vegetation mapping, fauna probability assessments, threatened species impact assessment and management recommendations for lodgment with the NSW Department of Planning. Koala Habitat Assessment & Rehabilitation Plans – Brisbane QLD
This project involved detailed negotiations with the Department of Environment & Resource Management (DERM) and the Department of Infrastructure and Planning (DIP) to overcome restrictive 4 ha Environmental Covenant Area. The project required on site flora & fauna surveys, mapping, and eco-system regeneration plans. The scientific evidence and negotiations resulted in a significantly reduced environmental planning constraint and ensured a targeted and successful management strategy for the local koala population. Maintenance Management Plan & Ecosystem Monitoring – Centra Industrial Park Yatala QLD
This project involved detailed maintenance planning that provided specifications and time schedules for the creek rehabilitation works. The service also includes allocating staff requirements and costing specific to each maintenance activity. This information is then calculated with a 3.6% CPI this allows for long term feasibility calculations for the client and for council.The ecosystem monitoring reports are conducted every 3 months and are required to ensure that the area achieves its quality assurance conditions to reach ‘off maintenance’ a council managed park.

Saltwater Helensvale QLD This project required a range of services to comply with the conditions specified by the GCCC, it included vegetation surveys, mapping, ecosystem regeneration plans, ecosystem monitoring programs, environmental covenant plans and maintenance management plans. Ecosystem Rehabilitation Plan & Detailed Landscape Plan – Terranora, NSW
This project required the review various consultant reports, past ecological studies and relevant government policies. It included on site vegetation surveys, mapping, ecosystem projections, detailed rehabilitation plans. Threatened Species Translocation & Ecosystem Monitoring –Hundred Hills Estate Murwillumbah NSW
The Environmental Monitoring Reports detail and record the monitoring parameters for the Translocated Davidson Plums and the enhancement plantings in the Bushland Conservation Reserve (BCR) within the Hundred Hills estate in West Murwillumbah. These reports are prepared for the client and Tweed Shire Council. The monitoring requirements include genotype mapping and occur over two (2) years with a report produced every three (3) months detailing the progress of the BCR. These reports will be reviewed in the final year to ascertain the outcome of the maintenance and monitoring period and are required for planning conditions. Open Space & Ecosystem Monitoring – Saltwater Oxenford QLD
The open space and monitoring reports are reviewed against open space planning conditions and council polices to ensure compliance. The monitoring parameters are recorded every 3 months by our specialists. The reports are submitted to the client and council to ensure all planning objectives are being achieved. This project collected and analysed information from the subject site and its surrounding environment that relate to the design and construction of the landscaping for the proposed development. This site analysis and concept planning information assisted in ensuring that proposed development incorporated the appropriate landscape planning recommendations that enhances the local neighbourhood character. The project included principles that enhance visual amenity, provides for ecological considerations and will allow management strategies to reduce negative impacts for the development. The information was used facilitate a complete assessment of the proposed development and provide assisting information for the NSW Department of Planning. This project required detailed consultation with a range of consultants and included the specialist planning requirements for the needs of age care facilities. The service resulted in planning directions that successfully mitigated potential land use conflicts and resulted in a range of benefits for the client and the age care residence. The landscape planning for the proposed development was provided to utilise the landscape features of the subject site and scenic surrounds to provide a landscape design which is responsive to the environmental and urban context which it is located. The plan integrates with the other associated professions and provided master plans, visual concept designs with a cost effective and environmentally responsive landscape design in respect of the sites features, constraints and wider urban context. This service required detailed vegetation surveys and GPS mapping to produce as constructed drawings to determine the long term maintenance areas, the required activities and specifications. The report also contained long term financial projections for GCCC to ensure the client met the council ‘off maintenance requirements’ for a successful handover. This project required the coordination with past conditions at interpretation of hydrological models and storm water requirements to ensure all works proposed would maintain the viability and functioning of the treatment areas.
